Joseph Morelle, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 25th district, continues to engage with constituents through social media platforms about pressing issues and his activities. With a career spanning from the New York State Assembly to Congress, Morelle has been known for prioritizing community-focused efforts and speaking on broader national issues.
On April 28, 2025, Morelle questioned the justice in deporting vulnerable minors. He expressed dissent against policies that affect children undergoing severe health treatments, as well as the implication of such actions on crime rates. Morelle stated, “How does deporting a four-year-old undergoing treatment for metastatic cancer make America any safer? How does deporting a two-year-old reduce crime? It doesn’t. It’s just cruel.” He urged Tom Homan to focus on other priorities rather than using locations like Rochester as a platform for political expressions.
Later on the same day, Morelle highlighted the achievements of his team, emphasizing their role in aiding the community with federal agency interactions and securing financial resources. Morelle tweeted, “Every day, my team helps our community navigate federal agencies, access important resources, and secure money owed to them—and I’m proud to say we’ve returned more than $3.2 million so far this year.” He encourages individuals to seek assistance through available channels, offering a link for more details.
Additionally, Morelle paid tribute to fellow congressman Representative Gerry Connolly, recognizing his impactful contributions. Reflecting on their shared duties, Morelle stated, “Representative Connolly has been a force for good in his community, and it has been an honor to serve with him as a fellow Congressman and Ranking Member.” He extended his support to Connolly and his family during a challenging period.
Morelle, who succeeded Louise Slaughter in 2018, holds a BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo and resides in Irondequoit. His longstanding service from the New York State Assembly to his current role in Congress underscores his enduring commitment to public service and representation of New York’s 25th district.
