Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, has recently addressed key political issues on his social media account. In a series of posts, Morelle called for campaign finance reform and reflected on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision.

On January 21, 2026, Morelle wrote, “We need to #EndCitizensUnited, limit the influence of special interests, and end the era of dark money in politics. It’s been 16 years since the Citizens United decision weakened our democracy by putting corporations over people.”

The following day marked the anniversary of a landmark Supreme Court ruling. On January 22, 2026, he posted, “Today marks the 53rd anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade decision—and over three years since the Supreme Court stripped it away. I sat down with Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York President and CEO Michelle Casey to talk about what that means for our country.” He also provided access to their discussion: “See our full conversation: https://t.co/8nM3ubFFBF”

Morelle has represented New York’s 25th District in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo.
