Joe Morelle, a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018, highlighted several community and national issues in a series of posts on March 9, 2026.
In one post, Morelle praised the work of a local cancer support organization: “The team at the Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club provides critical support, education, and resources for individuals and families impacted by cancer across our community. Today I joined them for a tour and to hear about their impactful work.” (March 9, 2026).
Later that day, he addressed military policy and government transparency regarding recent events in Iran: “There are rules, there’s a system, and we owe it to the American people and to our service members to have clarity and transparency around President Trump’s strikes in Iran.” (March 9, 2026).
In another statement posted the same evening, Morelle emphasized constitutional values: “The Constitution is clear: religious freedom is a foundational American value. It is part of what makes our country strong. Hatred has no place here, and we must call it out.” (March 9, 2026).
Joseph Morelle has served as the representative for New York’s 25th District since succeeding Louise Slaughter in 2018. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
