Joseph Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, shared updates on social media on August 23, 2025, addressing a tragic bus crash, his engagement with local union members, and participation in a naturalization ceremony.
In a post from August 23, Morelle expressed condolences regarding a recent accident: “I’m heartbroken by today’s tragic tour bus crash. My prayers are with all those injured and the loved ones of those who lost their lives.”
Later that day, he highlighted his ongoing relationship with labor unions: “I’m always excited to spend time with my brothers and sisters in labor @1199SEIU! As the son of a union family, I know just how life-changing union membership can be, and I’m proud to continue fighting for a future where everyone’s voice is heard.” This message underscores his personal connection to organized labor.
In the evening, Morelle attended an event celebrating new American citizens: “Honored to join Judge Geraci for a naturalization ceremony. This process stands as a reminder of our nation’s ability to welcome people from all corners of the world and create the beautiful tapestry of cultures and perspectives that make us all uniquely American.”
Joseph Morelle has served in Congress since 2018 after replacing Louise Slaughter. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018.
