Joe Morelle, U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district since 2018 and a former member of the New York State Assembly, recently posted several statements on social media addressing local education and national election issues.
On September 2, 2025, Morelle marked the beginning of the academic year for his district with a supportive message: “Happy first week of school, Rochester! Wishing our students, educators, and parents the best of luck in this upcoming school year.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns about voting rights in a post referencing former President Donald Trump: “Donald Trump is sending a clear message: he does not believe in every citizen’s right to vote.”
The following morning, Morelle commented on election security and mail-in voting practices. He wrote: “When the President takes election security advice from Vladimir Putin, America is in a very dark place. We will not eliminate mail-in voting—a safe, secure method of casting ballots that Americans have trusted for decades.”
Joseph Morelle has represented New York’s 25th District in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served nearly three decades in the New York State Assembly. Born in Utica and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a BA degree.
