Assemblyman Steve Hawley recently welcomed a group of fourth-grade students from Elba Central School in Genesee County to the Assembly Chamber. The visit was part of an educational trip to Albany, where the students were accompanied by teachers and parents, including Molly Torrey. Ms. Torrey had visited the state capital herself as a fourth grader from the same school and was co-introduced by Hawley’s father, former Assemblyman R. Stephen Hawley.
Hawley expressed his enthusiasm for introducing students to state government processes. “Every year, I have the amazing opportunity to introduce students from schools across my district,” he stated. “This year was no exception as this week I had the great privilege of welcoming this class to our state capital.”
He emphasized the importance of such visits in providing young people with insight into governmental operations and inspiring future leadership. “I always enjoy the opportunity to give the next generation recognition and give them a look into how our government works,” said Hawley. He added that he looks forward to seeing how these students will contribute as future leaders.
