Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C–Batavia) has formally recognized Liberty Pumps for its 60th anniversary, highlighting the company’s contributions to Western New York. The recognition took place with a proclamation that honored Liberty Pumps’ long-standing presence and influence in the region.
Liberty Pumps was established in 1965 by Fred Cook in Bergen, New York. Initially operating from a single building, the company has grown into a leading manufacturer of pumping products used for groundwater and wastewater applications in both residential and commercial sectors.
Hawley noted the leadership of Owner Charlie Cook, who is Fred Cook’s nephew, as well as President and CEO Robyn Brookhart and CFO Dennis Burke. According to Hawley, their guidance led Liberty Pumps through three major facility expansions over the past 25 years. These expansions increased production capacity and improved technological capabilities, positioning the company for continued growth.
The company adopted an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2015 under Charlie Cook’s direction. This initiative allowed employees to become part-owners of the business and benefit directly from its success.
“Liberty Pumps is a true Western New York success story,” said Hawley. “For 60 years, the company has exemplified excellence and integrity while creating good-paying jobs and strengthening our local economy. Through innovation and strategic growth, the Cook family helped transform the regional manufacturing industry and cement Liberty Pumps as a cornerstone of Western New York. I’m proud to honor this remarkable company and the family behind it, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact they will continue to have on our community for years to come.”
