On Tuesday, March 18, former Penfield High School standout Gage Wheaton’s current college team, the Niagara Purple Eagles, won 11-6 in their NCAA Division I baseball game against the Canisius Golden Griffins.

The game took place at John P. Bobo Field. This was their first matchup against the Golden Griffins this season.

The Purple Eagles’ next game is scheduled for Friday, March 21 at 3 p.m. at E. T. Straw Family Stadium against Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers.
