Joe Morelle, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman representing New York’s 25th district, shared insights and reflections through a series of tweets on June 4, 2025. The posts highlighted historical events, honored veterans, and critiqued current political decisions.
On June 4, 2025, Morelle commemorated the passing of the 19th Amendment by Congress in 1919. In his tweet “On this day in 1919, Congress passed the 19th Amendment.” He expressed admiration for those who fought for women’s suffrage and emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure voting rights for all eligible Americans.
In another post from the same day “As a member of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration,” Morelle recognized Vietnam War veterans through an official ceremony. He invited community members to RSVP for future ceremonies to honor local veterans deserving recognition.
Later that evening, Morelle criticized recent legislative actions with his statement “The Republican rescission package hurts our freedoms at home and our security abroad.” He argued that such measures do not represent fiscal responsibility but rather contribute to chaos and confusion.
Joseph Morelle has been a member of Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018. Before joining Congress, he served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 until his congressional appointment. Born in Utica in 1957, he is now residing in Irondequoit. A graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a BA obtained in 1986, Morelle has dedicated many years to public service.
