On June 16, 2025, Morelle expressed concern over recent events in Minnesota. He stated: “In the wake of the horrifying violence in Minnesota, elected officials at all levels are understandably concerned.” As the top Democrat on the House Administration Committee (@HouseAdm_Dems), he emphasized his collaboration with colleagues and law enforcement to ensure the safety of Congress members.
Following this, Morelle shared another tweet on June 16, 2025, where he conveyed his sympathies for those affected by the violence. He mentioned: “I’m keeping the victims of this senseless violence in my prayers and I’m grateful for law enforcement’s swift response.”
On June 17, 2025, Morelle highlighted his visit to a local facility dedicated to addiction recovery. Joseph Morelle has been serving in Congress since replacing Louise Slaughter in 2018 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 1991 to 2018. Born in Utica, New York in 1957 and currently residing in Irondequoit, Morelle graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a BA in 1986.
