Assemblyman Josh Jensen, a Republican representing the 134th District and Minority Ranker of the Health Committee, addressed key issues during the 2026 Health/Medicaid Budget Hearing in Albany on February 10. He joined members of the New York State Department of Health, Department of Financial Services, advocates, hospitals, and other stakeholders to discuss matters affecting residents across New York.
“Today I sat alongside my colleagues, the NYS Department of Health, NYS Department of Financial Services, advocates, hospitals and stakeholders to speak about issues that affect all New Yorkers. As we review the 2026 health budget, my responsibility is clear, and that is to be your voice here in Albany on the issues that matter most to you.
“I brought up the questions and concerns I hear most often from constituents around my district. These include bringing down health care costs, increasing access to providers and ensuring Medicaid dollars are spent effectively and efficiently.
“Health care is a topic that is hard to navigate, and it is my job to help New Yorkers understand this issue that affects us all on a personal level. Today was the start of a conversation that will outline the course of where your hard-earned tax dollars are going. As the legislature continues I will make sure to prioritize the issues that matter most to the people I serve.”
Jensen represents parts of Monroe County in the New York State Assembly and serves on several committees focused on health policy as well as children and families. His approach emphasizes fiscal responsibility and practical solutions for community concerns such as affordable living conditions and support for law enforcement. More information about his background in local government and community service can be found at his official biography.
Elected in 2020 after growing up in his current district, Jensen attended Niagara University and Hilton High School.
